The State of Project Management: Fascinating Insights from the Annual Report
To sum up Australia’s Project Management landscape in 2022, AIPM and KPMG Australia joined forces again to deliver their annual report. Over 300 diverse PM professionals completed the survey for this report. Let’s take a look at those facinating statistics!
Of the 329 respondents, the breakdown per industry looked like this:
The following statistics indicate a largely ageing workforce, with over 55% of them having over 15 years of experience and nearing retirement.
What does this mean for the PM landscape?
Developing emerging talent must be a key focus area for the next two to five years to minimise skills shortages! The Australian market desperately needs and will continue to need skilled labour in this field to replace those who leave.
So what about the money?
For the first time, respondents were asked to include their pre-tax salary range in the survey.
A key finding here is that the strongest salary growth is in the first 10 years of project careers, with
the growth rate tapering after that.
So what’s the trend with AI in Project Management?
29% reported that AI was in use at their organisation to support Project Management. This was compared to 10% in 2021.
Some of the hottest topics of 2022 include labour shortages, supply chain issues and more. This report is packed with fascinating insights for those already working in or working towards a successful career in Project Management.
