New Pathway to the 485 Graduate Visa for IT Diploma Holders
Great news for international IT students! The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has recently updated its skills assessment criteria — now recognising certain IT diploma qualifications for the 485 Temporary Graduate Visa (Post-Vocational Education stream). This change opens up a clearer, more achievable migration pathway for students completing vocational IT training in Australia.
What’s Changed?
Previously, many international students with IT diplomas couldn’t directly access the 485 Graduate Visa under the Post-Vocational stream. With this update, ACS now accepts select ICT-related diplomas, including those offered at Mindroom, for the Provisional Skills Assessment – a required step for the 485 visa application.
This is a significant shift that could fast-track your ability to temporarily live, work, and grow your IT career in Australia after graduation.
Which Diplomas Are Eligible?
At Mindroom, students who complete the following diploma specialisations can benefit from this change:
- Diploma of Information Technology – Business Analysis
- Diploma of Information Technology – Web Development
- Diploma of Information Technology – Database & Data Management
So far, several of our Web Development and Business Analysis students have successfully started the skills assessment process. The first Database & Data Management cohort will graduate around April next year, and can then also take advantage of this change.
