Event Recap: Our Graphic Design Students go Behind-the-Scenes AT IBS Printing

This month we had the unique privilege of stepping into the world of IBS Printing in Nerang. Here our students got a first-hand look at how their creative designs come to life in the packaging industry. This tour was part of the CUAGRD616 unit, focused on developing graphic designs for packaging.

What an exciting day it was for our Graphic Design students! It was a perfect opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

A Sneak Peek into the Process

From start to finish, students got to witness the entire journey of packaging design—how an idea on paper transforms into a tangible product. We explored everything from digital printing to production runs and finishing touches. The IBS team was generous with their time, giving Graphic Design students the chance to ask questions and observe the high-tech equipment in action. It was a truly immersive experience!

Why This Was So Special

This wasn’t just about seeing a factory; it was about inspiration. Students were able to observe the collaboration between designers, printers, and manufacturers, learning how their designs impact the final product. Whether they’re aiming to create their own packaging or are simply curious about the production side of graphic design, this experience provided invaluable insights that are hard to come by in a traditional classroom.

Check Out the Photos!

We couldn’t have asked for a more engaged and excited group of students. Take a look at some of the photos from the day to see the action up close!

Thank You, IBS Printing!

A huge thank you to IBS Printing for opening their doors to our students and offering them such a valuable and insightful experience. The team’s expertise and willingness to share knowledge is something students will carry with them as they continue to develop their graphic design skills.

This event was a great reminder that design is more than just an art form—it’s a process, a collaboration, and a crucial part of bringing ideas to life in the real world. We can’t wait to see how our students take this new knowledge and use it to level up their designs.

Stay tuned for more opportunities like this, and be sure to keep pushing the boundaries of your creativity!
