What’s the Buzz with ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a hot topic right now but what is it all about and how do we use it? Let’s take a closer look at this powerful AI newcomer.
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence program developed by a company called OpenAI. In 2015, Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever and Wojciech Zaremba founded OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research organisation. ChatGPT was released to the world on 30th November 2022.
Since its introduction to the public, ChatGPT has reached 100 million active monthly users — a feat it took TikTok nine months and Instagram two and a half years to do.
ChatGPT is a transformer-based neural network that provides answers and data with human writing patterns. The AI has been programmed with endless amounts of text data to understand context, relevancy and how to generate human-like responses to questions.
The mission of ChatGPT is to develop a “safe and beneficial” artificial general intelligence system or to help others do so.

The program can complete tasks like:

Many people are raising concerns that AI like ChatGPT risks spreading misinformation, is biased and breaches privacy. Microsoft states that they have extended the capabilities of ChatGPT to robotics, and controlled multiple platforms such as robot arms, drones, and home assistant robots intuitively with language. The program is not without controversy and it will be interesting to see how the future of this type of AI unfolds.
